A caricature can refer to a portrait that exaggerates or distorts the essence of a person or thing to create an easily identifiable visual likeness.  In essence, a caricature is a cartoon portrait of someone that exaggerates the features that are distinct to that person while minimizing any distortion that would detract from achieving likeness.
